Author of numerous reports, congress papers, articles, etc. His textbook on new project management has been a standard reference work in Scandinavia since 1978. A handbook in English has been published more recently in 2000 (see Further information).
Former professor of project and construction management at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and a frequent visiting professor at several leading universities in the USA and other countries.
As an international consultant, Dr. Lichtenberg has been entrusted with several hundred public and private assignments within strategic management and project management in most business areas, including several projects in the ‘mega’ class. In addition, he has led numerous industrial development seminars.
Elected president for the International Project Management Association, IPMA, 1982-85. One of the first members of Project Management Institute, PMI, and similar Scandinavian societies.
Prior to the above appointments, he worked for a decade in the construction industry, gaining experience in various positions. Having gained an M.Sc.Eng. (Copenhagen), he pursued an extensive further education and completed a variety of post-graduate courses in economics and management.
In 1974 he was awarded a doctorate for a thesis on new project management principles. In 1986 he received the distinguished gold medal from the Danish Brewery Association for his contributions to the Danish business sector. In 1993 he was awarded honorary membership of the International Project Management Association, IPMA.
